Finding the Right Property

The Challenge

The Kucera Companies has been providing commercial real estate services in Austin, Texas, since 1975. But their website seemed almost as old as the company itself.

Brokers, potential tenants, and investors couldn’t find property information easily – and when they did, it was static and uncooperative. Even a simple task like filing an online maintenance request became a chore for Kucera’s clients. Beyond functional hiccups, the website just didn’t look sophisticated. Kucera is an established, trusted team of real estate experts, and their website needed to make that clear.

The Solution

As with every project at TradeMark, we began with “Discovery,” a project phase in which our information architects and designers drilled down into Kucera’s business operations, strategy, and client base. Several goals emerged:

  1. The new site should leapfrog Kucera beyond its competitors’ websites -- combining a sophisticated look-and-feel with an elegant, interactive site structure.
  2. Users should be able to find Kucera’s property details easily -- and then be able to interact with them in meaningful ways (e.g., sorting, filtering, etc.).
  3. Because real estate information changes constantly, the new site should be easy to manage on a daily basis.

On top of a vastly improved aesthetic design (check out the before-and-after images above), the new website makes finding relevant information simple. Now, both brokers and potential clients can discover their ideal property in mere seconds. And because the site is built on a modern, open-source platform (ExpressionEngine), updating property listings is a breeze. We also built a new feature that allows users to view properties on a local map.

The Kucera Companies have been leasing and selling commercial property in Central Texas for more than 40 years, and we’re proud finally to give them the website they deserve.
