The Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association recently turned to TradeMark Media for a complete brand overhaul. To ensure that their users got a good first impression, Jeff McAllister, Art Director here at TradeMark, re-branded the association by re-designing three main aspects of brand: logo, web site, and e-newsletter.

To re-establish the Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association with a fresh brand, Jeff began by completely redesigning their logo. Four concepts were initially shown, each with a unique idea, color palette and visual message. After a second round of review, the committee decided on what they felt was ideal for the organization. The bold “A” with it’s modified character represents both Austin as well as the AMA and the red and black within the detail lends to a modern, classy look.

The old Austin AMA website was not only outdated, but also relied on a color scheme that drew attention away from the content of the site. Keeping with the Austin chapter’s new brand image, Jeff changed the color scheme of the website to match the new logo: red, white, and black. The new picture on the homepage connects the AMA chapter to Austin, and adds a friendly personality to the association. To update the design, he also changed the typography used throughout the site to a more modern, clean font, and changed the shape of the social media icons from circles to squares. By maintaining a consistent design theme, Jeff further emphasized the Austin AMA’s new brand image.

In addition to re-designing the Austin AMA website, Jeff also re-designed their newsletter. The business-conservative, high-tech style of the new website had to be applied to the newsletter to ensure that the Austin AMA maintained a uniformed look. Jeff also added templates to improve the functionality of the newsletter. The templates allow for the Austin AMA to easily add event information.

As Thomas Manss said, “To create a memorable design you need to start with a thought that’s worth remembering.” At TradeMark Media, we thought that it was time for the Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association to not only be seen as a successful and professional association, but also as an industry innovator.
