Case Study: Girl Next Door
The Challenge
Girl Next Door is a high-end women's clothing boutique located on the corner of 5th and Lamar in downtown Austin. The store opened in 2004 and has been building loyalty and steadily increasing its customer base. With the brick-and-mortar side of the business doing great, it was time to take sales online. Management's goal was to increase overall sales by 20-30% by adding an online store. Our Development Team was brought in for the challenge because of our expertise with online commerce.
The Process
“TradeMark Media was a pleasure to work with. They were very attentive to our challenging needs during the creation of our girlnd.com e-commerce website. I would definitely use them again and I would recommend them highly.”
— Eric Simone, Owner
Our Development Team worked with local graphic design studio Yellow Fin to create the Web site interface (although we're great at design too). Yellow Fin's team created mock-ups of several of the site's pages and our team coded all the of the pages using current Web standards. After the site template was coded, a powerful e-commerce system was installed, seamlessly integrated and completely customized to meet Girl Next Door's particular needs. The site ended up being attractive and user-friendly, and the client was very happy.
The Benefits
Girl Next Door's online system couldn't look like all other online stores. It had to be attractive, elegant and speak to their high-end target market. The design accomplishes this with a unique look that their customers appreciate. In addition, the e-commerce system makes ordering online easy. Our team customized it with "build-to-order" functionality so that users could create an outfit from various products - this ensures that customers are willing to spend more by purchasing multiple products. We also saved Girl Next Door time by customizing the site to interface with their in-house inventory system.
The Results
Before official site launch, Girl Next Door launched a "friends only" version allowing only select individuals to purchase online. The results were positive and gave everyone momentum for the full-scale launch. The site was well designed and well put together and will be a positive addition to Girl Next Door's brick-and-mortar business.
