Network Solutions: Site Redesign Success, Stock Photography Fail

Network Solutions, the original domain name registrar, recently launched their brand-new Web site. While clicking around, I noticed a set of icons that still had the istockphoto watermark across them. Did NetSol forget to purchase the rights or are they just being cheap? I would think the former, but everyone’s trying to cut costs these days.

The new Network Solutions Web site features stock images that the company didn't have the rights to use.

Speaking of cutting costs, NetSol claims to provide Web site design services with a “team of expert designers”. Although, after looking at their Success Stories, my one-year-old may want to apply for a job on their “expert design team”.  If you’re looking for a great Web site, try finding someone who has a focus on design and development (and does a great job). NetSol appears to (poorly) do everything under the sun from SSL certificates to logo design.

The redesign itself gets 3 stars from me. It’s nice and clean, information is easy to find and the color palette is pleasing. However, the site coding lacks some Web standards including proper accessibility.
